Cloud Computing

Today I would like to share information about cloud computing, which is becoming a common buzz among IT industries.
Following question comes to our mind.
What is cloud?
What does it mean to us? is this a new technology?

If we are computer programmer, then another set of questions comes to our mind with above sets.
How to get on cloud technology? Should I select this to one of my career path? How should I get experience on cloud computing?
AND common question among us are; is cloud a real solution of current challenges or is it a hype.
Simple answer of this question is "Old wine is in a new bottle", with some difference which I will describe below.

Cloud: It is true that we are on the cloud since we have subscribed free email services on the internet such as Hotmail, Yahoo etc.  Our all emails are lying on the cloud; present within their infrastructure. We are accessing it as a service. So we are using cloud since we created first free email service.

Then what is the difference in cloud terminology if we hear today. Now companies like Microsoft, Google etc. are coming up with business solution on the cloud such as Google doc, Microsoft BPOS and now it is Office 365 etc. Companies who does not want to invest and maintain them on premise infrastructure they can go on cloud to fulfill their business need. All their business computation takes place in the cloud so the name cloud computing.
Take the example of Office 365, it has got everything in one bundle such as MS lync, MS exchange online, SharePoint 2010 online. So it fulfills the SMBs requirement at low cost. If you want to have Office 365 bundle on premise you have to invest a lot on licensing, infrastructure, backup and security.

For SMBs (Small Medium Business companies) cloud computing is becoming a trend. They want to invest on cloud and focus on their line of business.
For Developer Microsoft has provided a platform i.e. Windows Azure and database SQL Azure. They can build .Net application and deploy it on Windows Azure. Microsoft has provided a set of SDKs which will be used for Azure. Existing application also can be migrated or converted and deployed on Azure.
We have already converted and deployed one of our products PowerERM on Azure. http://owpowererm.cloudapp.net/Pages/Users/Login.aspx

Google+

It has been late this month for my posting to our blogs as I was travelling and had some prior commitments. Nevertheless, here I am with the new entry and this time it is an important subject Google+. I am sure by now everyone is aware of Google+. If not, then I trust you are not staying somewhere in cave away from civilization.

As against the previous attempts by Google in the social networking arena like Wave, Buzz etc. this one looks a lot different. I have started liking it and the story seems to the same with millions out there. Google’s invite only campaign has been pretty successful till now with Google+.

Now comes the crucial one, does it have that to beat FB. To be frank, can’t say. The reason may be that it depends a lot on many other factors than how well Google+ does in terms of features. There is not much content out there in Google+ yet and many people still tend to go with FB for their daily dose of social networking, because that is where they find their most of the friends. I feel Google should come out quickly of invite only mode and release it to all.

Octawares commitment towards the society and responsibility towards the environment

“We have our vision set high, but the heart is firmly in place”

True to those words, we are not just ‘another’ runner in the corporate race, we do walk the roads of humanity too.

We have time and again fulfilled our duties towards the society in our own subtle way, continuing further on that path sometimes we need to make some noise too, not for us to be noticed (we prefer realizing our responsibilities quietly) but for people to notice and give due consideration to the cause (any day the cause is more important than our efforts)

This time it is for those pearls in the darkness (visually challenged) and the well-being of our very own planet (plant saplings and grow trees to save environment).

Project Vriksha is an eco awareness and plantation drive organised by National Association For The Blind (Employment & Training) Manesar at Del-Ggn Toll Plaza on the 29th and 30th July 2011. 2 lacs saplings would be distributed to people crossing the toll bridge at Del-Ggn expressway requesting them to plant these saplings at their homes/ offices/ gardens. This will be an occasion for corporates, government, school children, and people from all walks of life to pledge and spread the message of environment protection and attended by all Eco lovers, Corporates, Social, Media personalities, well wishers of the visually handicapped people in Delhi/ NCR.

Mr Subodh Kant Sahay Union Cabinet Minister for Tourism, is expected to flag off the campaign. CEO NASSCOm Foundation, President Canon India and President Greenply Industries are expected to attend this event.

Mr.Aslam Khan, President of Octaware, has been requested to be a Guest of Honour for this event.

The Law of Compensation

You Get What You Give

Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his essay, "Compensation," wrote that each person is compensated in like manner for that which he or she has contributed. The Law of Compensation is another restatement of the Law of Sowing and Reaping. It says that you will always be compensated for your efforts and for your contribution, whatever it is, however much or however little.

Increase Your Value

This Law of Compensation also says that you can never be compensated in the long term for more than you put in. The income you earn today is your compensation for what you have done in the past. If you want to increase your compensation, you must increase the value of your contribution.

Fill Your Mind With Success

Your mental attitude, your feelings of happiness and satisfaction, are also the result of the things that you have put into your own mind. If you fill your own mind with thoughts, visions and ideas of success, happiness and optimism, you will be compensated by those positive experiences in your daily activities.

Do More Than You're Paid For

Another corollary of the Law of Sowing and Reaping is what is sometimes called the, "Law of Overcompensation." This law says that great success comes from those who always make it a habit to put in more than they take out. They do more than they are paid for. They are always looking for opportunities to exceed expectations. And because they are always overcompensating, they are always being over rewarded with the esteem of their employers and customers and with the financial rewards that go along with their personal success.

Provide the Causes, Enjoy The Effects

One of your main responsibilities in life is to align yourself and your activities with Law of Cause and Effect (and its corollaries), accepting that it is an inexorable law that always works, whether anyone is looking or not. Your job is to institute the causes that are consistent with the effects that you want to enjoy in your life. When you do, you will realize and enjoy the rewards you desire.

Action Exercises

Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, remind yourself regularly that your rewards will always be in direct proportion to your service to others. How could you increase the value of your services to your customers today?

Second, look for ways to go the extra mile, to use the Law of Overcompensation in everything you do. This is the great secret of success.

The Octaware Picnic on 10th June,2011 to Aayush Resorts.

This subject will be covered in two parts:

PART-I

Just last month on the 10th of June, 2011, Team Octaware went on an adventurous mission…A Mission to enjoy come together and themselves, a frivolous task of course but adventurous none-the-less.

The entire Octaware Team (along with its management) got together for a day to let their hair down and enjoy, with no airs about who is the President and who is a Trainee Engineer, all came together as one single family to enjoy.

As is the Octaware, every year on one particular day the entire Octaware Family comes together for an outing for on full day. The Teams from the Corporate Office and Both the Development Centers (Mumbai as well as Pune) gather to have a day full of enjoyment, merriment and fun.

As usual, a central location was decided upon for the mutual convenience of the Mumbai & Pune team. This year the location chosen to get together was Ayus Resorts on the Mumbai- Goa highway. This place is one scenic beauty, spread over an area of more than a Kilometer this is a wonderful place to retreat. What with its lush green pathways, bird sanctuary, this place is a nature lover’s delight. There is also a grand replica of a Majestic Palace, Beautiful swimming pool with 3 big slides, indoor games like snooker, badminton, Table tennis and facilities to play outdoor games like cricket, volley ball and football, this place has something or the other for everyone.

The Pune Team outdid the Mumbai team to reach there first and did a good review around the place. Finally when the Mumbai team reached that’s when both the teams got together over breakfast. It was great to have aloo parathas and idli sambars bread butter and jam. After a fulfilling breakfast Later on, Mr.Syed Najeeb – G.m. Sales & Marketing did the welcome address and then Mr.Aslam Khan, President Octaware gave a brief over-view about the organization and its progress over the period of last year. He made the team aware of how the organization is growing at a great pace.
